Please have hair\, make-up and costuming done at call time. Plan to arrive 2 hours before stage time so you have time to park\, get to the dressing room\, and get costumes\, hair and makeup all prepped. You must be stage ready 1.5 hours before to warm up and work with a coach.\n\n\nWe don’t anticipate the competition to run early\, but please stay tuned to Band for updates.\n\n\nReport to designated area completely ready with hair\, makeup\, and first costume on\, and check in with your coach when you arrive (1.5 hours before stage time).\n\n\nNo earrings or jewelry unless it is a part of the costume. No fingernail polish. French tip is ok. Nails should be “Sport length.” No underwear under costumes.\n\n\nDouble knot your shoes. Secure headpiece.\n\n\nHIGH ponytail with STAIGHTENED hair when a dance requires a ponytail. Even if your child has naturally straight hair\, you must use a straightener to get all the kinks out of the hair. Hair must be SLICKED BACK with gel or hairspray. No whispies. Check the costume manual above.\n\n\nParents\, please report to the dressing room to help change costumes and makeup. When your child is done dancing\, it is a good practice to pack up all your costumes and belongings.\n\n\nAudience members\, remember you are not allowed to video or photograph during the routines. Please remind your guests. This could result in point deduction from our routines.\n\n\nCover your costume with your Surge warm up jacket when you are not backstage or in the dressing room.\n\n\nParents are not allowed to be side stage.\n\n\nThere will be at least one coach to work with students before their performance. The coach may not be your choreographer but will help your child warm up and run through their routine.\n\n\nEach coach will choose one dancer representative to receive the group awards. If your child is chosen\, please remind them to KEEP ALL pins or medals and bring them to the studio the following week. DO NOT pass out awards on stage as they tend to get lost easily.\n\n\nIf your routine places in the top announced routines\, please stay on stage after awards for pictures.\n\nCompetition Announcements and Reminders:\n\nPlease download a backup music for your child’s solo\, duo and/ or trio and have it with you on a jump drive or accessible on your phone. Officials may request it if another studio questions the age average of our entries.\n\n\nMake a checklist of your costumes and accessories. DESCRIPTION:Mandatory Competition for Voltage Students \nWhat is Shockwave Showcase?\nShockwave Showcase is an exciting yearly event for the Voltage Team! Each January\, Surge hosts a showcase at the Sumner PAC to feature all of our Voltage routines for the season! \nSurge staff uses Shockwave as a time to evaluate costume choices\, correct hair/makeup\, and give feedback to each other about the pieces presented. We use the opportunity to make our routines even better for the competition season. \nShockwave is also a fundraiser for the Voltage Team. When your friends and family purchase tickets\, they can choose a dancer that their purchase will benefit. Be sure to remind them to type in your students name. A week after the event your dance account will be credited the appropriate amount. Dancers earn $5 per ticket. \nShockwave information is below. \nPlease let us know if you have any questions\, we are happy to help! \nShockwave Showcase\nSunday\, January 15th \nSumner PAC \n1707 Main St \nSumner \n98390 \n2:00pm doors open for dancers and backstage helpers \n2:45pm call time \n4pm Showtime \n\nDoors open means dancers can arrive at the Performing Arts Center and the dressing room area will be available.\n\n\nCall time means hair and makeup is complete and stage ready. At call time\, students should be ready for coach led warm up and stretching on their own.\n\n\nAll Voltage Solos\, Duos\, Trios and groups will perform in the Shockwave Showcase. You can view the show order below.\n\n\nThis is a fully costumed event. Please have your solo coach approve your costume and then rehearse in your costume prior to The Shockwave Showcase.\n\n\nPlease wear full stage makeup and hair. See the tutorial link below for guidance on how to apply makeup. Have your coach approve your hairstyle prior to Shockwave.\nVIEW MAKE-UP AND HAIR TUTORIALS\n\n\n\nOne “parent helper’ will be allowed in the dressing room area for each dancer. Dancers are responsible for their own costume changes. There will be no quick change helpers. Parents may come and go from the audience between numbers to help their child change. However\, parents cannot watch the show side stage. They must return to their seat after helping with a costume change.\n\n\nAll Voltage dancers must stay for the whole show to support their teammates.\n\nTicket Information \nTickets are $22 plus service fee. It is festival seating. Parent helpers that enter the backstage area early cannot save seats. If jackets are left on seats\, they will be removed before the house opens. All ticket holders must enter from the front of house when the doors open at 3:40pm. \nBe sure to tell your friends and family to list your dancers name when purchasing tickets so that you receive credit on your dance account. No credits will be give unless the name is listed at the time of purchase.
